Moneybookers, one of Europe’s leading online payment systems, today announces that it has been awarded both the Best Execution and the Judges’ Award at the 2009 Media Momentum Awards in London.
The Media Momentum Awards honour the fastest growing digital media companies in Europe. Shortlisted companies were invited to present to a judging panel of leading industry figures including Martha Lane-Fox (co-founder of Lastminute.com and CEO of Lucky Voice), Anil Hansjee (Head of M&A at Google Europe), and Seb Bishop (International CEO of RED).
Moneybookers was chosen as winner of the Judges’ Award having impressed the judges with all aspects of the business. In particular, they noted the strength of the management team, high level of execution and vision for future growth.
This high level of execution and vision meant that Moneybookers also won the Best Execution Award. The judges felt that Moneybookers had uniquely positioned itself to capture a large portion of the anticipated strong growth in B2C eCommerce spending.
These awards follow another successful year for Moneybookers, which recently announced record results for 2008 with €2.4 billion in transaction volume and profit of €18.7 million. The company is confident of successfully building on this growth momentum throughout 2009. Moneybookers currently welcomes 10,000 new users per day and signed up its seven millionth account holder in March.
Nikolai Riesenkampff, co-CEO of Moneybookers, said:
“We’re thrilled that Moneybookers has been recognised in this way. The Media Momentum Awards showcase the best in European Digital Media companies and the awards we’ve won are testament to the strong growth we’ve seen across all our markets and the many opportunities that are open to us. We have a strong business strategy in place to grow our business further in order to capitalise on these and are extremely pleased that this has been endorsed by such important figures in our industry.”
Manish Madhvani, partner at GP Bullhound (organisers of the Media Momentum Awards), commented:
“The Media Momentum Top 50 league table has become a key barometer for the health of the digital sector and this year’s impressive results reaffirm the importance of the industry to both the UK and EU economy. Competition this year was as tough as ever and for Moneybookers to be honoured is a real achievement. We hope that these awards will provide even greater momentum to our finalists in their respective fields as they continue to develop and grow.”
