The Alibaba.com and Moneybookers alliance will further increase payment options for European and international AliExpress customers

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, 05 August 2010 – Moneybookers, one of the world’s largest online payments systems providers, has created an alliance with Alibaba.com on their ecommerce platform AliExpress.com, which is designed for wholesale, small lot and instant online transactions. Through Moneybookers’ worldwide network, AliExpress can offer their customers further payment options in more than 30 currencies, straight from their free Moneybookers account.

In order to make the site truly user friendly, and ease the process of cross-border transactions, AliExpress has chosen to implement Moneybookers as it offers more than 80 payment options in more than 200 countries with 41 currencies, all through just one integration.

Through Moneybookers, many European and overseas buyers will be able to purchase goods on AliExpress using their preferred local payment channel such as debit cards, locally branded credit cards, instant banking, prepaid cards, etc.

Martin Ott, Co-CEO at Moneybookers said, “Moneybookers is delighted to be integrated on AliExpress. This is yet another big player to add to our ever-increasing list of top internet brands with Moneybookers on board, adding to the phenomenal success of both Moneybookers and Alibaba.com. Together we can offer an excellent service to businesses and organisations worldwide, making us the obvious choice for those who want to interact with the net on a global scale. The integration adds to our worldwide network and continues to strengthen our increasingly dominant position in the online payment space.”

Using Moneybookers allows customers to easily pay using their credit or debit cards, without giving away any confidential financial details to the seller thus reducing the risk of fraud and increasing customer security online. The operational teams at AliExpress and Moneybookers have already started working together to customise and maintain their strict anti-fraud standards.

“AliExpress is designed to make global trade a competitive advantage for small businesses,” said Maggie Choo, Director, Alibaba.com EMEA. “Sourcing through AliExpress helps small merchants offer their customers more unique products, at better prices.
